Check g.co/nest/matternow for more information on Matter-enabled devices and functionality. On your display, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. You only need to customize some common settings once and therefore, it is not necessary to repeat the process for all new Google Home devices. At the same time, privacy settings can be turned on/off in individual Google Home device. Google Home Hub features you should be using
Google's Nest Hub smart displays use voice commands for most functions, which means they are usually easier to use than smartphones or PCs. However, the lack of a graphical user interface means discovering features can be difficult. Google does show tips and tricks on the Hub's home screen, but they don't cover every possible option and feature. From the top of the screen, swipe down to open the Quick settings menu, then tap AlarmsSet an Alarmselect the time tap Set. You can customize your alarm to make the alarm repeat, change the alarm tone, include a sunrise alarm, or play your morning routine. However, sometimes those displays can be a little too bright, especially if you are trying to enjoy a quiet evening or sleeping in the same room.
You can also set the default calendar for creating events to any calendar you have permission to modify. This works with the same search queries as the Google Photos app, so matches are usually very accurate — even specific commands like "show my photos of raccoons" worked for us. Turn off the screen at night
If you dismiss cards for remote playback sessions on other speakers or smart displays, you don't end the playback session. When you’re ready, you can end the playback session on the remote device, or you can retrieve the media controls through the Media page. Or, on the Home control page, tap the “Speakers and TVs” card to control media that plays on any device in your home.
Select “See All” for the full list if your app isn’t showing. If you've only plugged in your Home Hub and haven't gone digging into the app, there are a bunch of options and features you don't know about. App isn't all that much help either, since it isn't exactly easy to navigate, and many settings are hidden deep in menus. In the Nest device screen, look at the upper right for the Settings button, which looks like a gear icon. The main catch is that each phrase can only execute one action, unless you sign up for IFTTT Pro, which gives you unlimited applets and the option to create multiple actions from one trigger.

Also, if IFTTT fails to execute the action for whatever reason, Google has no way of knowing (and often IFTTT doesn't, either), and won't tell you the command didn't actually work. So you can already access a few built-in Routines that are ready without any input needed but you can create entirely new routines that do exactly what you want when you request. In Home, tap the device that you want to adjust. Not only does it adjust for the lighting conditions, but you can also personalize what your Home Hub shows in Ambient Mode. That includes linking to your Google Photos, you can show art from around the world or even just a simple clock face.
For most actions, you can control the screen with your hands or your voice. On the home screen, you should see a list of your currently connected devices. Select your Nest Hub device from this list by tapping on its icon. There are a few different options you can play around with on this menu, but the one we're looking for here is the 'During low light' setting.
Get the Google Home Hub
While not as customizable as Android TV, the Google TV Home screen has the potential to get better the more you use it. Hopefully, these customization options can help. First, select your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen. You can now use the D-pad on your remote to move the app shortcut left or right.
The Google Home Hub also has an Ambient EQ. This means that it adjusts with the room. If you turned off the lights, the screen will dim. Once completed, you’ll be able to activate streaming through these services with nothing more than your voice. Simply say “OK Google, play [insert song/station] on .” From there, Google Home will begin playback.
Is this an update that everyone is supposed to have where it just shows up on its own? In the bottom right corner of the Home screen, tapAccount. Something like turning on the lights in your gaming room when you ask or dimming the lights for a movie in the living room. To adjust this morning report of any built-in Routine, open the Google Home app. At the top-right corner of the device card, tapSettings. SelectNearby deviceand follow the prompts to connect.
It’s available on both a Nest Hub (firmware 1.44) and Home Mini (firmware 1.42) that we checked this evening. These new Nest Hub personalization and notification settings also require thelatest Google Home app (2.15 or 2.16+) and are currently only on Android. If there's something you can't do with your Nest Hub on its own, there's a chance it could be done with IFTTT. To get started, browse through some of the pre-made Assistant applets, or create your own (that last link only works when you're logged in). Don’t expect masses of controls and sound settings to tweak, you can adjust the bass and treble to suit your ear.
These settings are your Google account settings that are used by Google Assistant. You may also notice that there are some Google account settings related to Google Assistant. Again, you can turn on/off this mode on individual Google Home devices.
You can customize Google Home address to get localized weather and traffic info. This is the most interesting features of Google Home. You may refer to this guide on how to use Google Home guest mode. As there are many settings related to Google Assistant, Google decides to move other Google Assistant settings to a dedicated page. As shown above, in the device list, you should be able to find the Google Home device.
In other words, you cannot customize news feed for individual Google Home devices. For example, under Personal info , you can change home and work address. Such changes will affect other services that use this info, for example, Google Maps. You can further customize Google Assistant settings for individual devices. In this guide, for example, you are trying to customize Google Home settings for a device named Family room Home. As mentioned above, from Google Home device settings page, tap More to enter Google Assistant settings page .
Google Home Hub's Night mode turns down the volume of your speaker on a schedule -- perfect for using your speaker late at night or during nap time. This setting works for notifications, reminders and replies. This action will take you to another menu with a variety of choices to directly change how the display works. While there are probably better ways to show off your vacation photos, you can start a slideshow of images from your Google Photos library on your Nest Hub. Just say a command like "show my photos from Florida" or "show my photos of Bob," and matching images will cycle through on the display.
